‘Despite hundreds of complaints to police and Trading Standards, the west London garage has not been shut down and continues to trade.

Victims who take the company to court often discover the directors have dissolved the firm’s assets and simply set up a new company under a new name.

The garage, at 192 Brent Road, Southall, first began trading in 1982 as the Heathrow Engine Centre. This company dissolved last year owing creditors £554,573.

The firm has traded under several other names. These companies owe customers a total of £66,424 in unpaid fines.

The garage in Southall has shared the same website address as another garage in Twickenham, which dissolved owing customers £74,000 in unpaid fines.

Invoices seized from this company by Trading Standards revealed 206 customers had been overcharged a total of £87,000.

Members of the public who have attempted to retrieve their vehicles have told stories of abuse, threats and intimidation.’
